D-Mack Media Joomla! Website Launch Print
RedEvolution WebsiteD-Mack Media officially launches the new website to host Joomla! extensions.  This site provides an area to host - and to allow downloads - for all the extensions we have developed and it also provides an active Support Forum to those with questions or problems!

We wanted to keep the site as 'clean' and quick loading as possible.  We started with the great template 'redevo_aphelion' by Red Evolution which comes in 4 color variations and a fixed or fluid site width.  Obviously we have performed some customizations to the template, but we think it works very well out of the box too!

Some of the Extensions we have used on the site include:

  • Of course we have all our own extensions installed - RecommendFriends, CurrencyConverter and UserInfo
  • JotLoader for the downloads area of the site - we customized it quite heavily
  • Qcontact for the Contact Us page - because it has Captcha security.  We will be changing this soon to a customized version of our RecommendFriends component!
  • Vinaora Visitors Counter for our site visitor stats


And one piece of software that is not Joomla! related at all is our Forum.  We have decided on MyBB Forums because we loved the look and functionality it provides.  It is quite easy to customize - using just one XML file for the theme (along with custom images). Unfortunately because the Joomla! wrapper does not validate 100% XHTML transitional when using the 'autoheight' feature, we basically put a copy of the site template in the forum directory and wrapped it that way. Sadly, however, the forum still does not validate properly because there are numerous XHTML no-no's in the original forum code :o(
