Hi !

User info works fine, but I would like to have the flags.

However I cannot install the userinfo component.

I always get the same error message :

Component Installation: another component use already that file: "/homepages/24/d221943330/htdocs/joomla/administrator/components/com_userinfo"

Even after removing the (two) com_userinfo file from the FTP server.

What should I have to do to get it working ?

TIA

BTW, here is my site : http://www.millecam.fr
Hi Corona (TIA) - Welcome to the Forums!

Sorry to hear you're having some problems.

There could be a couple possibly reasons for the problem.

First you need to check if you might have any other component installed that is called userinfo. You can check by going to the Admin menu Extensions-->Install/Uninstall and click on the Components tab. Look down the list for anything called userinfo or UserInfo. If there is a listing, please let us know who the Author is (shown on that same page).

Next, it is possible the component 'partially' installed before running into the problem. When the component installs correctly there are folders created in both the main site Components folder AND the Admin-->Components folder. Make sure both of the com_userinfo folders are completely deleted/removed before trying another install (the folders need to be deleted too, not just the files within them).

Hope that helps. Let us know how you make out! Smile

Thanks,

D-Mack
Thank you for the fast reply, D-Mack.

Well, That's what I did, but I have an "Error 500 - Internal server error" nowSad

Is there is another possibility of installing this component after having
unzipped it ? Perhaps by uploading the items to the correct place in the server ?

Hello again Corona,

Please explain a bit more exactly where and when you are getting the Internal server error. For example is it in the Admin part of your site when you try to install the component? If not, when and where? Do you see any other text/comments before or after you see the error?

If you could also provide a bit more information on your site set-up, that might be helpful as well - such as:
  • are you running on a local server?
  • if not a local server, what type of hosting do you use?
  • have you had any problems installing other components?
  • are you sure you have enough 'space' on your server for the component (it is fairly large at over 370kb)
Installing the component manually would be quite a challenge as it would involve running a database query to the your Joomla! database, as well as registering the component in the database for Joomla! components.

Let us know more about the error please.

Thanks,

D-Mack
Thank you for your help, D-Mack, and sorry to bother you.

(and sorry for my broken englishBig Grin)

I tried to install it in the admin part
I am running my site on line : http://www.millecam.fr
My host is 1and1
I never had any problem to install other modules or components
I'm sure I have enough space.

In spite of the 505 error, the two com_userinfo are well in place.

I uninstalled the userinfo module (from the admin part) and I removed both com_userinfo (using the FTP)

I was able to install the userinfo module back, but it stays impossible to install the component.

Don't worry, the userinfo module is awesome, even without the flagsBig Grin

But, if you have an idea of what to do to get it working...

Thanks.
Hi
I read your thread. The unable to install the user info component. I think you have registry problem. First clean your registry to this component. Another problem to your application corrupt. Please check your application..

Thank you..
I've used Ad-Aware Free for years, and greatly appreciate this program. smile.gif I
I have the Vista Ultimate 64-bit OS on the laptop, and I know my laptop was incompatible with Ad-Aware 2007. But for some reason, it was compatible with the discontinued Ad-Aware SE. For most of this past year, I uninstalled Ad-Aware (sadly) from the laptop. Then... Ad-Aware 2008 was released; and it was supposed to be compatible with the Vista 64-bit operating system. I was so happy!
